Luke Nares

Title: Leadership Facilitator
Interesting Fact: An aspiring singer/songwriter, Luke has toured his music across Canada and performed in venues from Toronto to Victoria.

In 2008, while deeply entrenched in the world of music, Luke Nares’ life changed when he discovered the work of Free the Children and Leaders Today. After attending a Volunteer Now! special event and hearing the passion of Leaders Today speakers, learning of the “Me to We” philosophy and seeing the devotion of all the youth involved, Luke needed become a part of this exciting movement.

While growing up in a rural area north of Toronto, Luke participated in many competitive sports and eventually became captain of the local football team. But it wasn’t until the end of high school when Luke discovered his two greatest loves in life: music and Ultimate Frisbee. After graduating from the University of Guelph, where he studied theatre and English (and, unofficially, Ultimate Frisbee), Luke immediately dove into his growing passion for music. By the summer of 2007, he had recorded, produced and toured his socially conscious folk/pop album Move to Stay Warm. Soon after, he took a month-long journey around central and northern Italy, which sparked a newfound love for travel and a longing to understand more of the world and all of its inhabitants.

Working as a proud leadership facilitator for Leaders Today, Luke hopes to make a significant difference in his local community and his neighbouring communities around the globe. In his spare time, he continues to write and record music, enjoy the great game of Ultimate Frisbee and spend time with his friends and family.
